Sen. Ron Wyden
The U.S. House recently passed the Farm Bill (224:200) with the dangerous “Save Our Bacon” (SOB) provision intact. This provision is a direct threat to our ability to protect animals, as it would strip Oregon of the power to create or enforce its own animal welfare standards. The battle has moved to the Senate, where the bill is currently being marked up. We need Senator Ron Wyden to take a public stand and ensure this language is stripped from the final Senate version. This provision overturns current welfare laws and prevents Oregon from passing any new protections for animals in the future. Please take two minutes today to call Senator Wyden's office. Urge him to publicly oppose the SOB provision and demand its removal to protect Oregon’s ability to pass animal welfare laws.

Hi, my name is [Your Name] and I’m a constituent from [City/Zip Code]. I’m calling to urge Senator Wyden to take a public stand against the 'Save Our Bacon' provision in the Farm Bill. This provision is a direct threat to Oregon’s ability to protect animals. It would overturn our current welfare laws and, even worse, permanently block Oregon from passing new animal protections in the future. Several of the Senator’s colleagues, including Senators Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, and Ed Markey, have already made public statements opposing this. We need Senator Wyden to join them and lead the charge for Oregon. Will the Senator make a public statement opposing the 'Save Our Bacon' provision to ensure Oregon keeps its power to protect animals?"

Sen. Michael Bennet
A version of the Farm Bill containing ‘Save Our Bacon Act’ language just passed through the U.S. House of Representatives, and is now being debated in the Senate. Call both Colorado Senators today and ask them to oppose the “Save Our Bacon Act” to stop this bill from advancing further. Background: -The ‘Save Our Bacon Act’ is a provision in the 2026 U.S. Farm Bill -It would overturn most state-level animal welfare laws that affect ‘interstate commerce’ like Prop 12 that requires veal, pork, and eggs sold in California to meet minimum space requirements for pigs, veal calves, and hens -It could strip states and cities of their ability to pass future laws to protect animals on factory farms What to expect: -During business hours, an assistant may answer. After business hours, you’ll leave a voicemail. -It’s fine to either read the script or improvise. The offices are tallying the number of voters who call and the issue they’re calling about.

Hi, my name is [Name], and I'm a constituent from [neighborhood/city]. I'm calling about the 2026 Farm Bill. The House just passed their version with a provision often referred to as the "Save Our Bacon Act" or "EATS Act," which would wipe out state agricultural laws and limit states abilities to pass new ones. I'm asking Senator Bennet to oppose adding this language to the Senate's Farm Bill, and to fight to keep it out of any final version. I'm one of many Coloradans watching closely to see how Senator Bennet handles the Farm Bill, and I hope he'll stand with us and vote NO on any Farm Bill that contains ‘Save Our Bacon Act’ language. Thank you.
Sen. John Hickenlooper

Big out-of-state corporations are pushing the Save Our Bacon Act because they've decided their bottom line matters more than humane treatment of animals, but I believe we need more protections for farm animals, not fewer. I'm one of many Coloradans watching closely to see how Senator Hickenlooper handles the Farm Bill, and I hope he'll stand with us and vote NO on any Farm Bill that contains Save Our Bacon Act language.
